For example, I’ve added the following: domain1.internal domain2.internal To allow for more flexibility, Postfix doesn’t check if these domains actually exist, so you can call them whatever you want, really. BTW are there any differences between the auto postfix startup process and manual startup process? This little one liner may help with removing the comments, but copy the files to another location before running it so you dont make any mistakes: cat |sed '/#.*$/d' ali888, Sep 28, 2011 #19 Mark_NL New Member That's good to hear!

Be mindful of any passwords in your main.cf and try to omit the comments in the file. It is likely due to another process locking the Mailbox.

They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own. Email for domains out of my server domain is send to the ISP's SMTP server for internet delivery, the addresses in my local domain are now delivered to the correct users. http://brrian.net/unable-to/unable-to-create-lock-file-permission-denied-postfix.html don't change it to 777!!

I chose to send it to [email protected] to test the alias setup as well. When I've got normal-looking permissions on /var/mail, postfix gives that error, "cannot create file." Courier-IMAP says, "imapd: chdir javaspot.net/pergesu: No such file or directory" chmod 777 /var/mail and they both work Regarding the 1007 uid, it is an uid of another user from LDAP.

Do I have to pre-create the directory structure?

So I still can't find the problem. The virtual_mailbox_domains line points Postfix to the file containing the email domains, and virtual_mailbox_maps is for the actual email accounts. It works perfectly now. I changed it to server1 Only.

This was the reason I applied chmod 777 to vmail directory as well as any subdirectories under it. The /var/mail directory is shown as thus: drwxrwxr-x 2 root mail 512B Sep 19 13:28 ./ drwxr-xr-x 27 root wheel It solved the permission issue. http://brrian.net/unable-to/unable-to-create-lock-file-var-mail-root-lock-file-exists.html Reply With Quote 25-Mar-2011,15:43 #4 Joeg1484 View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries View Articles Newcomer Join Date Mar 2011 Posts 41 Re: Postfix issue - no local mail delivery

Post your answer as official so I can accept it. Also, don’t specify the entire path to the user’s directory. Thanks! –John Bowlinger Nov 13 '12 at 16:04 I'll be a little more precise: Whatever GID you set in virtual_gid_maps needs to have write access to the folder. else it's not allowed to read/write files.

Thank you ali888, Sep 22, 2011 #6 ali888 New Member Hi, Just an update. virtual_alias_maps, logically, is for the file containing any aliases. Maybe something else. I must admit that when I saw the error, I knew something is missing there but was not sure what I needed to do to fix it .

No, create an account now. Within your vmail dir tree ALL files and directories should be 1004.8l (don't know what uid /gid those are) Then your imap/pop server daemon needs to access the cirtual mailbox dirs
